WELCOME TO THE PHILOSOPHY & RELIGION DEPARTMENT
In the Philosophy and Ethics Department we aim to inspire our students to investigate the world we live, in its people and our roles in existence itself.
KEY STAGE 3
At Key Stage 3 we explore Cumbrian spirituality. Students reflect upon our local area and how it has influenced us spiritually to make us wonderfully unique. We go on to explore Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism and Christianity. Students are encouraged to immerse themselves in the faiths of our world discovering how these faiths have shaped our lives and the lives of all others.
At Key Stage 4 we explore the philosophy and ethics that underpin our society. We encourage students to engage with philosophical thinking and ethical issues that challenge our society helping to create skills of empathy and critical thinking.
Philosophy and Ethics at A level opens a world of wonder and awe, exploring logic and ethical dilemmas of existence.
PHILOSOPHY AND RELIGION IN THE WIDER COMMUNITY
We invite members of the global community into the college as well as visiting places of inspiration and worship.
