WELCOME TO THE PE DEPARTMENT
The college is served by good outdoor facilities, which include three rugby and two football pitches with the hockey based on the all-weather pitch adjacent to the Leisure Centre. There are three netball courts and two tennis courts. The school has also entered into a partnership with the Cricket Club and has access to the astro–turf wicket and outdoor batting nets. The indoor facilities include one gymnasium, a dance studio, a fitness suite and a four-court sports hall.
KEY STAGE 3
You are given the opportunity to participate in a range of exciting sporting activities where you will acquire and develop different sports-specific skills. To see our programme of study for Key Stage 3 PE click here.
BTEC DANCE: This course is designed to foster the interests and unique talents of each individual, enabling our students to learn and participate in a range of dance styles. The course develops technique, creativity and professional awareness of the dance world.
BTEC SPORT: This is a practical based course that enabling you to develop your skills as a performer in one team sport and one individual sport. You will learn how to coach other students and will you will also train and develop your personal fitness.
KEY STAGE 4
GCSE PE is offered following the AQA Syllabus (Single/Double Award). This is a fantastic course that combines both theoretical and practical aspects of sport performance. Last year’s GCSE PE results saw 83% A*-C and 100% A*-E.
All students participate in a Core PE activity programme where they are given the opportunity to participate in different sporting activities in and around the local community to provide them with a foundation of experience to continue physical activity in local clubs in the surrounding area.
KEY STAGE 5
PE IN THE WIDER COMMUNITY
We are very passionate about extra curricular sports. Sports clubs are run every lunchtime and after school and many students are involved in district, county, regional and national teams. To view the current Extra-Curricular Programme and Fixtures timetable please see the College Calendar.
