WELCOME TO THE ICT DEPARTMENT
KEY STAGE 3
At UCC, ICT lessons are compulsory for all Key Stage 3 students.  Students study a broad range of topics over the three years, delivered through exciting projects which provide varied opportunities for children to shine.  Topics covered include a strong initial focus on Internet Safety, Information Reliability & Bias, they then look at Web design, Modelling, Data Handling & Computer Control.
The strands or key themes of ICT include organising, investigating, collecting, using complex lines of enquiry, analysing, interrogating, sequencing instructions and processes, making predictions, identifying relationships, monitoring, measuring, reflecting critically upon their work and the work of others, design and synthesis of ICT-based products.
KEY STAGE 4
ICT is compulsory for all Key Stage 4 students. We believe that it is essential that all students have an ICT qualification when they leave our school. Our ICT course is accredited by the OCR Examining Board.
The OCR ICT course is designed to provide opportunities to become confident users of common ICT applications and to demonstrate skills, knowledge and understanding of Information and Communication Technology functions, environments and operations.
KEY STAGE 5
At Key Stage 5 we offer Level 3 courses in both ICT and I Media.   BTEC I Media is practical course that delves into the creative side of computer-based work.  Our Cambridge Technical ICT course covers subjects such as Communication and employment skills for IT and Information Systems as well as Website Design, Designing Computer Games and Managing Networks.
