WELCOME TO THE LEISURE & TOURISM DEPARTMENT
At Ullswater Comunity College we offer pupils the chance to study Leisure and Tourism at Key Stage 4 and at A-level. There is a dedicated subject classroom with a wide variety of up-to-date resources for Leisure and Tourism students to use. Over many years the department has forged strong links with many local businesses in the Eden valley.  These links help to cement the knowledge learnt on the course. Leisure and Tourism is a relevant and interesting subject choice where the courses studied will help students who wish to pursue careers in the hospitality or travel industry.
KEY STAGE 4
Leisure and Tourism students learn to broaden their understanding of the tourism industry by studying a range of key destinations, on a national and international scale. Students are also given the opportunity to study the rapid pace of change in the UK leisure industry. Sustainability is another important issue for the leisure and tourism industry; as part of their course students learn how leisure and tourism industries try to minimise the possible negative impacts on the environment and cultures, in both global and local contexts.
KEY STAGE 5
Travel & Tourism can be studied at BTEC Level 3. This award includes multiple external visits and students on this course work closely with local business and organisations. On completion of this course many students go on to higher education to study Hospitality or Sports Management.
