APPLIED LEARNING CENTRE
Our new state-of-the-art Applied Learning Centre was officially opened by His Royal Highness the Duke of Gloucester on the 29th of November 2011.  The Applied Learning Centre houses four distinct areas of 100m2 each, covering the construction industry, motor vehicle engineering, hair & beauty and retail. It is a brand-new single-storey, steel frame brick-built construction sitting within the existing school campus.  Initially courses including NVQ and modern apprenticeships will be targeted at 14- to 16-year olds, but will later encompass the post-16 curriculum.
Each of the four areas in the new centre are fitted out appropriately; an eight-bay hair salon and beauty treatment area sit alongside a retail area containing a shop and reception area, which includes space for teaching marketing stock control and point-of-sale management. In the motor engineering area equipment includes two hoists, wheel-balancing and tyre-changing equipment. The construction space has facilities for teaching plumbing, electrics, bricklaying, plastering, painting and decorating.
