Bon Jour!
After some traumatic weather, Gordon our heroic driver took us safely through torrential rain both in France and England. The ferry was an experience for us all as both pupils and staff had to battle through the maze of corridors to get to our rooms. The journey itself was particularly smooth, taking into account the weather before and after.
We arrived fresh faced and bushy tailed to an overcast La Rochelle after our Pixar sponsored journey. Our dinner was a gentle introduction to French life and cuisine with roast chicken and chips. Pupils were lulled into a false sense of security and at this early stage were starting to ask for their food preferences in French!
Sunday consisted of a stroll around La Rochelle and taking in its architecture and culture. Again showing off their bilingual prowess, as pupils started tentatively ordering local ice creams and viewing the traditional Sunday market.
Monday has brought the aquarium which fascinated everyone with the range of activities and attractions. Everyone was amazed at the range of wildlife the sea had to offer, however some started to question their desire for fish and chips on their return home!
The weather has been steadily improving since our arrival and we are looking forward to sampling more of the local culture and cuisine over our upcoming days here.
