In the heat of the sun, we explored the shops and stalls. We had a refreshing lemon slushie and bought selfie sticks to capture what we saw.
There were lots of tame pigeons and some of the public were sitting down and letting them land all over them. Eurgh.
Through the narrow, winding alleys, we elbowed our way to the pizza shop, and bought the most tomatoey pizza we have had.
The afternoon was our visit to the Doge’s palace. This magnificent building was filled with the most beautiful art which was centuries old. The ceilings were immaculately decorated throughout with gold leaf. The armoury and dungeons were mysterious and terrifying.
After souvenirs and drinks, we hopped back on our boat and returned to Jesolo. There was just enough time to visit the beach before dinner and a well-earned gelato.
