Year 12 Early Years and Health and Social care students attended an Open Day at The University of Cumbria where they discovered student life beyond 6th Form. They found out about Degree opportunities, work placements, clubs and societies. They also participated in interactive sessions relevant to their subjects, for example Midwifery, Primary Education, Childhood and Family Studies and Social work.
Connor Willmington-Holmes from Fitzwilliam College, University of Cambridge, will be presenting a general HE related talk "Applying to University" in the evening of Monday 26th February from 6.30pm in the Conference Room. The event is open to all Year 11 and 12 students from local schools, their relatives and any teachers/staff who also wish to attend.
The content of this talk will be applicable to any student looking at applying to a selective HEI/University, not just Cambridge.
Students are asked to register for the event here: https://goo.gl/JyJgV3
Meeting for the first time this week, Year 12 Council hold a unique place in the school. The members meet with a Sixth Form focus every month, but in addition to this they also help lead the councils of the other year groups in the school. The leadership opportunity this provides adds weight to any CV or UCAS personal statement they may write in the future. Good luck to the Council!
There is now a Student Finance Guide online with information on how to apply for Student Finance for university. You don’t need to have replied to UCAS to confirm your choice of degree course before you start your Student Finance application. It is better to apply to Student Finance as soon as possible. If you have any questions at all, please see the Sixth Form team. You can open the Guide here.
