It was a pleasure to welcome graduate ambassadors from the University of Newcastle to UCC two weeks ago.
They were in school to run CSI workshops for over 60 Year 9 students. The workshops included working in teams to extract DNA,cracking codes and testing samples of soil, to help them find out ‘whodunit?’.A big thank you to the graduate ambassadors for running the day!
Last week our Sounds of the Beacon media team had a particularly special, and colourful, interview with Cath and Julie from Hospice at Home Carlisle and North Lakeland about the upcoming Penrith Colour Run. The fantastic event, which is in its second year here in Penrith, is taking place on the 17th of July, 1pm, at Frenchfields and will raise money to support the important work of Hospice at Home. For more information or to sign up for the event why not visit their website here or have a look at our Sounds of the Beacon interview!
Just before Easter we were privileged to welcome His Royal Highness, The Prince of Wales to our school for a tour of the Applied Learning Centre. We received the following letter from Clarence House in response. If you'd like more info on Prince Charles' visit please see the Headteacher's Blog here.
