Enterprise Learning is a key element in UCC with strong links to vocational and work-related learning.
VISION
Our vision is to enable students to have an equal opportunity to access Enterprise Learning through a range of learning mediums thereby equipping them with the skills, knowledge and attributes to be successful both in the world of work and their personal lives.
We aim to realise this vision through:
- Increasing students’ self-confidence, motivation and commitment to learning
- Encouraging positive attitudes to lifelong learning in students and staff
- Providing learners with a wide range of learning experiences
- Providing an enterprise learning environment in which students are encouraged to take risks, show initiative, explore, challenge and question
- Enabling learners to interact and communicate with a wide range of people
- Providing a means of supporting students to become independent learners through a focus on self-reflection, thinking skills, problem solving, decision making and goal setting
- Developing an ethos of enterprise throughout the school
We will achieve these aims through:
- Whole college enterprise focus days
- Enterprise Week activities
- A range of Young Enterprise programmes
- Fair Trade activities and events
- Global activities – links with Tanzania, Taiwan and St Vincent
- Working with local and national charities
- A Personal Development programme at KS4 – covers Citizenship/Work Related Learning/PSHE/Enterprise
- Cross-curricular activities with an enterprise focus
- Embedding enterprise within the curriculum
- Providing a wide range of courses at KS4/KS5, including a large number of vocational courses
- Developing quality links with a wide range of local businesses and community contacts
- Working with organisations such as pfeg to develop financial capability, etc
- Involvement with the local Enterprise Learning Partnership
- Promoting enterprise and celebrating achievement through assemblies, meetings, displays, the college website, our annual Celebration Eveningin October at North Lakes Hotel and Spa
