Schools receive additional funding for pupils who have free school meals. For Ullswater Community College, the value of this additional funding is £96,000 in the financial year 2012–2013. The school uses this funding to enhance the curriculum provision and so improve the progress of students in vulnerable groups, to extend the range of subjects to ensure that suitable choices are available and to provide additional intervention classes to ensure that the outcomes for these students are as good as possible.
